'Trim-A-Tree' Contest Launched In Oak Forest

OAK FOREST, IL — Nearing the end of 2020, the City of Oak Forest is asking residents to help spread some cheer during the holiday season.

The Trim-a-Tree contest in the city invites residents to gather their family, co-workers, organizations, schools, clubs and more to figure out a theme and plan to decorate a tree together.

  • The trim-a-tree contest is open to Oak Forest residents, businesses and organizations.
  • Trees must be decorated by Sunday, Dec. 6. You will receive an email when the trees are up and ready for your decorations.
  • All decorations must be weather resistant and securely fastened to trees. Lights cannot be accommodated.
  • Please provide a sign identifying your tree. Signs on stakes work best.

Due to COVID-19, the city will not be having the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony they have every year. According to the city, the Trim-A-Tree contest will be a way for residents to still get in the holiday spirit.

Registration for the Trim-a-Tree Contest is open through Nov. 23. Winners of the contest will be notified and announced during the City Council Meeting on Dec. 8, according to the city.
