Coronavirus Testing Site Opens In Markham

A new drive-up coronavirus testing site has opened at the vehicle emissions testing location near 159th and Pulaski in Markham.

MARKHAM, IL — A new coronavirus testing site has opened in the Chicagoland area this week. The first drive-thru testing site in the south suburbs began taking samples from first responders Tuesday morning in Markham, and on Wednesday will open to anyone age 65 or older, those showing symptoms and others who have pre-existing conditions.

The testing site is at 3824 W. 159th St. in Markham, which is just south of 159th Street. It's the same site as the auto emissions testing station utilized by many in the south suburbs, the village of Flossmoor noted on social media on Tuesday.

Testing will be conducted by the Illinois Department of Public Health, while intake and traffic logistics are handled by the Illinois National Guard.

An Illinois National Guard spokesman said about 70 soldiers will help with logistics.

Anyone 65 years old or older, anyone older than 17 who has pre-existing medical conditions and all first responders and health care workers exhibiting symptoms, will be eligible for testing at the site according to an ABC-7 report. Temperature checks will be taken as part of the intake.
