Accused Drunk Driver More than Twice the Legal Limit: Oak Forest Police Blotter

Coat Stolen from Gaelic Park

A victim came into the Oak Forest Police Department following a theft at Gaelic Park, 6119 147^th Street. The victim said that sometime between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) removed their coat from the coat room.

The victim said the coat was valued at about $150 and that inside the coat was a pair of glasses, and a case, valued at about $200. The victim said they notified the park of the incident, should the coat be returned.

Driver's Side Mirror Stolen

A victim in the 15200 block of Boco Rio Drive notified police of an automotive parts theft that occurred between noon, Dec. 5, and 3 p.m., Dec. 6. The victim told officers that during that time, an unknown suspect(s) removed the driver's side mirror from their car, damaging the mirror's frame, but not the electrical connections.

The victim estimated the cost to repair the damage at about $300.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5

Electronics Stolen From Home

Police were called to the 16100 block of Latrobe Avenue after resident reported a burglary to their home. At the residence, police spoke with the victim, who told officers that some time between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. an unknown suspect(s) stole a flat screen TV, a Kindle notebook, a laptop commuter and various items of costume jewelry.

The residents said that they returned home and found the items missing, along with a window being left open about two inches. They also told officers that they weren't sure if the front door was dead bolted at the time of the incident or not.

Neighbors said they didn't see anything suspicious.

Drunk Driver Passes on a Double Yellow

Jose M. Aquino, 25, of the 2700 block of S. Central Park, Chicago, was stopped by officers near the intersection of Mary Ann Court and Central Avenue, after officers observed a car driven by Aquino traveling at a high rate of speed and nearly strike another car while passing on a double yellow line.

Officers initiated a stop of the vehicle, during which, officers noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, removed him the driver from the car and asked him to perform standard field sobriety tests.

Aquino could not complete the tests and was taken into custody, then transported to the Oak Forest Police Station. At the station, Aquino submitted a breath test sample of .184 and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was processed and given a court date of Jan 15, 2013, before being released.
