Elderly Man, Woman Killed In Crash Outside Midlothian DMV
According to reports, 80-year-old Thomas Coyne, of Oak Lawn, and 75-year-old Kathleen Coyne were brother and sister.
MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Two senior citizens were killed and another elderly driver injured after the driver suffered a "medical event" that caused him to hit two pedestrians with his car outside a Midlothian Department of Motor Vehicles, officials said Wednesday.
Midlothian police told Patch they responded to the scene at 14434 Pulaski Road Wednesday at around 1 p.m. Once firefighters and officials arrived, they saw an elderly man behind the wheel of a car that had crashed into the front of the DMV building and a man and a woman in critical condition in the parking lot.
According to initial reports, police said the man had a medical incident which caused him to accelerate his vehicle, crashing into several parked cars, two elderly pedestrians and finally crashing into the building.
