Forest Preserves Of Cook County To Host Day Of Service In Honor Of Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Stop by any of our six nature education centers Monday to participate in a self-led litter pick-up hike."

Join the Forest Preserves of Cook County on Monday, January 18 in honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of service. Stop by any of our six nature education centers from 9 am-3 pm or Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center from 10 am-2 pm (registration required; email Jessica.Becker@cookcountyil.gov or call 312-415-2970) to pick up trash bags and gloves (or bring your own supplies) to head out to a preserve and participate in a self-led litter pick-up hike at your local preserve or in your community. The nature centers and Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center will also have activity packets for young children about Dr. King’s life and legacy. Please call to verify availability.

Also consider joining our community of dedicated volunteers and sign up for our Select Organized Litter Obliterators (SOLO) program to volunteer any day, including January 18. You can choose to go to a Litter Hotspot or any Forest Preserves site near you.
