Free Pet Food Event In Oak Forest Aims To Combat Rising Costs

The event will take place Saturday and give away free dog and cat food while supplies last.

OAK FOREST, IL — Pet owners who are struggling to afford rising costs of cat and dog food are invited to take supplies for free this weekend, event organizers said.

In an event put together by Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Friends of Oak Forest Animal Control and Paws 4 Playhouse, pet owners in the community can come and take from the free pet food pantry while supplies last.

According to a survey from NielsonIQ, pet food was about 12 percent more expensive at the start of 2022 than the start of 2020.
