Gun Charges For 2 Men After New Year's Shots Fired: Midlothian PD
Multiple people were seen shooting into the air just after midnight Jan. 1, Midlothian Police said.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL β Two men have been charged after Midlothian police say they were among several who fired shots into the air just after midnight on New Year's Day.
Midlothian police say they were near the 3600 block of 147th Street at 12:01 a.m., when they saw "multiple individuals shooting firearms into the air," police said.
The individuals fled into a nearby apartment building, leaving behind 17 shell casings, police said.

An investigation helped police identify the suspects, and on Jan. 5, Midlothian Police along with the South Suburban Emergency Response Team searched an apartment at 3662 W. 147th Street, finding two firearms and ammunition. A man identified as Michael Armstrong, 27, was taken into custody and later charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm. Later Jan. 5, a second man identified as John Perry 30, of Midlothian, turned himself in to police. Perry was also charged with one count of felony reckless discharge of a firearm.
Per the Pretrial Fairness Act, both were released from custody and scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Jan. 6. Jail records do not show either as in custody.

Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney said an investigation to identity additional offenders continues.
