Gun Range Employee Wounded When Gun Accidentally Goes Off: Cops
The shooting happened Wednesday morning at the Eagle Sports Range in Oak Forest.

OAK FOREST, IL — An employee at an Oak Forest gun range shot and injured himself Wednesday when his firearm accidentally discharged, according to police. He was hit in the "lower extremities" and taken to a nearby hospital by the Oak Forest Fire Department, Police Chief Tim Kristin said. No one else was injured in the incident.
The shooting happened before 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Eagle Sports Range, 5900 W. 159th St. The employee was inside the facility when the gun he had fired accidentally, said Kristin, who didn't know the employee's condition when he was taken to the hospital.

Eagle Sports Range opened last October, and the 30,000-square-foot facility includes 28 climate-controlled indoor shooting bays, a training simulator and a viewing area. A retail area, gunsmith shop and private member lounges also are on site, and the range has meeting rooms for conceal carry classes, safety seminars and self-defense training.
