Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?
Ken, (but I call him Kenny) teaches eighth grade at Kolmar Elementary in Midlothian and was destined to become a teacher. He truly and authentically cares about the pupils and for the love of history. My husband and I always knew he was destined for greater things. His pupils are invited to travel through time with him as he teaches by putting on hats, costumes, or talking in amusing accents. I love to hear his stories about his lessons, how the kids interact with him, and how he keeps encouraging the kids to become "A better person and do good in the world." He truly is inspiring.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?
Ken (AKA Kenny) was born to be a teacher (did I mention that). He knows that each child's family life is different, and each one thinks and learns differently. He encourages them to create a positive outlook on life and helps them built positive self-esteem through learning. When we talk, he always tells me he still gets excited at the start of every lesson, as he looks forward to teaching his students something theyβve never heard before. "Kudos" to you Ken, keep up loving what you do.
