OAK FOREST, IL — An Oak Forest resident is looking to gather funds to provide a life-saving procedure for her cat, Fatman.

Brianna Arellano said after coming home from work, she found her 6-year-old cat severely dehydrated and unable to move. Arellano took Fatman to the Midwest Animal Hospital, where he was admitted immediately. Arellano soon found her cat had a urinary blockage and was given two options: surgery or a life-saving procedure.

"To anybody that knows me ... [knows] he is more than just a cat; he’s my world and my genuine happiness," Arellano said. " I am asking to please help me pay for his surgery. I appreciate any and every donation. I don’t know what I would do without my Fatman. Please help me give him a fighting chance at life."

Fatman has been in the Midwest Animal Hospital, 11205 183rd Place for more than three days, according to Arellano. She said her mother was able to help with the $1,500 fee, but that additional funds are needed for the surgery. As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser has reached $619 out of the $4,500 goal amount.

"They had a catheter in him and were giving him fluids. When it was time to come pick him up he had become blocked again immediately," Arellano said. "His only options now are to get him perineal urethrostomy surgery or get put down."
