Lutheran Church Of The Resurrection Hosts 'Back To Church Sunday'
The event will take place on Sept. 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
OAK FOREST, IL — After a year and a half of doing, striving and surviving —usually alone, it’s time to regather, regroup and renew spiritual habits that have slipped away, according to Oak Forest's Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
The house of worship is hosting a "Back to Church Sunday" event on Sept. 19, to kick off its new year, and celebrate the coming season as a congregation, according to a news release. The event will start with an outdoor worship service at 9:30 a.m. and a celebration will follow with a picnic and games. Food such as ribs and hot dogs will be provided, but the church asks that attendees bring side dishes and desserts to share that don't require refrigeration.
"We all need 'a renewal of energy' when it comes to spiritual matters. That’s why we set aside one special day at the end of the summer to 'rally' - to 'come together for a common purpose' for worship, for digging into God’s Word, for playing together, for praying, for serving, and for witnessing," the church wrote in the release.
