Man, 26, Arrested After Shots Fired, Standoff With Cops: Midlothian PD

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Tuesday at 147th Street and Kolmar Avenue.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — A 26-year-old man faces gun charges after police say he fired "numerous" shots in Midlothian in the early morning hours Tuesday.

On April 23 at 12:53 a.m., Midlothian police were called to 147th and Kolmar Avenue for a report of shots fired. Police were searching the surrounding area, when one saw a man fire numerous rounds from a gun and retreat back into an RV that was parked at 147th St and Kolmar Avenue, police said Wednesday.

Police set up a perimeter and called for assistance from outside agencies. Officers gave the man repeated commands to exit the RV and to surrender. After a period of time, the manxited the RV and was taken into custody.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the RV and found a gun and ammunition during the search, according to police.

The man was identified as Suarlin Villalovos-Zacarias, 26, of Chicago.

Villalovos-Zacarias was taken to the Midlothian Police Station, where he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Midlothian police were assisted by officers from Oak Forest, Posen, Palos Park, Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Crestwood. Cook County Sheriff's police and Illinois State Police also assisted.
