Man, 39, Dies After Shot In Head In Domestic Incident: Oak Forest PD

The 39-year-old Oak Forest man was shot Sunday evening on Babette Court.

The victim has been identified as Oak Forest man Mohannad G. Othman, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Othman was shot in the head, police said. He was pronounced dead Sunday at 8:56 p.m.

A second victim, a 12-year-old girl, was shot while standing in the neighboring driveway. She is still in stable condition. A third victim, a 19-year-old man, was struck in the leg. He was treated at an area hospital and released. A fourth person, a 19-year-old woman, was also shot in the leg. She was taken to an area hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries.

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, Oak Forest Police were called to the 5500 block of Babette Court for a report of shots fired. Officers found three people with gunshot wounds at the scene, according to police.

While police were at the scene, they learned information about a vehicle possibly linked to the incident. Responding Oak Forest police found that vehicle in the 5900 block of 159th Street and were able to stop it, according to Reid.

One occupant of the vehicle was found to have a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The other occupant was detained, police said.

Police have not yet released the name of the person in custody.

Police expect to release another update later Monday or early Tuesday.
