Man Fatally Shoots Girlfriend, Self In Domestic Dispute: Cops

The couple was found dead by police Monday morning in their Midlothian home.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL β€” A Midlothian man is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend during a domestic dispute Monday morning before using the gun on himself, according to authorities. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene after their bodies were found in their village apartment, Midlothian police said in a release Tuesday.

According to police, officers responded to a disturbance call at about 9:38 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the 14700 block of South Homan Avenue. Investigators determined that Cesar Santana-Orozco, 29, had shot Andrea Echeverria, 23, in her torso while they were inside the apartment. He then shot himself, police said.

Echeverria, whose death was ruled a homicide, died from the single gunshot wound, according to an autopsy Tuesday by the Cook County medical examiner's office. Cesar Santana-Orozco died from his self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the medical examiner's office ruled his death a suicide.
