Oak Forest Man, 28, ID'ed As Victim In Fatal Gas Station Shooting: ME

The shooting happened Tuesday, Oct. 10 at a Speedway gas station in Crestwood, police said.

CRESTWOOD, IL β€” A 28-year-old Oak Forest man has been identified as the victim in a shooting outside a Crestwood gas station earlier this week.

Jermayne Watkins, of the 5100 block of 167th Street, died after being shot outside a Speedway gas station, 14002 S. Cicero Ave. Oct. 10, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police were called at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for multiple reports of shots fired at the business, police said Friday.

Police found Watkins with gunshot wounds on the ground, Crestwood police said Friday. The man was pronounced dead in the ambulance.

Numerous shell casings were found at the scene. Witness accounts and security footage showed a silver SUV fleeing the scene, headed eastbound on Midlothian Turnpike, police said.

The Crestwood Police Department and the Southwest Major Crimes Task Force are investigating this incident.
