Man Struck, Killed By Train Near Midlothian: Metra

Officials said that the man appeared to be running to chase after a train when he was accidentally hit and killed, halting train traffic.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL β€” A man who Metra officials said appeared to be running to catch a train on Friday morning was struck and killed by the Rock Island train near Midlothian, according to officials.

Metra officials said that the man was struck by Rock Island Train 403 on Friday morning and that inbound and outbound train traffic was halted after the accident. Inbound trains resumed just after 8:30 a.m. with delays and outbound traffic started again around 9:15 a.m.

Trains may be running on a delay of around 50 minutes.

Metra officials are calling the incident and accident and said it appeared the man was chasing after the train when he was struck and killed.
