MIDLOTHIAN, IL β€”The Midlothian Police Department is hiring an administrative assistant to provide support for and coordinate the duties of the department and the Board of the Fire and Police Commission. It is a part-time position.

Job Duties:
  • Perform a variety of staff functions that relate to the duties and responsibilities of the Midlothian Police Department’s operational needs.- Perform clerical tasks and data entry
  • Greet individuals at the Police Department lobby and assist with their needs or complaints- Respond to adjudication hearings and perform clerical duties
  • Answer police non-emergency telephone line and provide assistance
  • Any tasks assigned by Clerk Supervisor, Chief or Police or their designee
  • Fire/Police Commission
  • Performs a variety of staff functions that relate to the responsibilities of the Commission’s operational needs
  • Attend meetings
  • Take meeting minutes and transcribe them
  • Assist with testing (promotional and new hire)
  • Generate and post testing materials
  • Schedule testing
  • Advertise testing
  • Assist on testing days
  • Notify participates of test results
  • Set up interviews
  • Create and maintain eligibility list after candidate interviews
  • Maintain records and applications in accordance with Illinois Statues
  • Provide Administrative Support to the Commission with regards to disciplinary Hearings
Hours and Pay
  • 15-20 hours per week
  • $14 per hour

Skills/Education

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization.
  • Requires the ability to read and write English.
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
