New Daycare Coming To Oak Forest

The daycare will be located at 5488-5496 W. 159th Street in Oak Forest, which has sat vacant for over 10 years.

OAK FOREST, IL β€” Oak Forest is getting a new daycare facility in the city, after the city council unanimously approved of a special use permit for Future Childcare Inc. on July 13.

The daycare will be located at 5488-5496 W. 159th Street in Oak Forest. The new tenant, Misty Ganious, will be opening her third childcare location called "Learning for the Future Childcare," for the unit that has sat vacant for over ten years.

Ganious has a location in Dolton, which opened in 2016. Her other location can be found in Calumet City, which has been opened since 2007. As of now, there is no opening date slated for the Oak Forest facility.

"I've been doing this since 2007, " Ganious said. "[I've been] Full-time, starting in 2016. I retired from Cook County Hospital, where I worked there as a specialty care manager."

The council approved of a plan that must be met with the following conditions, to open in the city:

  • Provide pedestrian striping and signage for a clear crosswalk from both the front and the rear entrances to the satisfaction of Community Development Department.
  • Learning for the Future Childcare will provide necessary staff to act as crossing guards during time of peak pedestrian crossing activity.
  • Outdoor recreation space shall be enclosed with a six-inch privacy fence and utilize proper vehicle impact protection per building and fire code.

The city will be working on an agreement with the mall owner to allow law enforcement to write all tickets and violations on site.
