No Oak Forest Street Parking During Snowfall Of 2 Inches Or More
The city reminds residents about the Oak Forest ordinance that goes into effect when it snows.

OAK FOREST, IL — Snow hit the northern Illinois area last week for the first time this season. Now that winter is unoffically here (the official start of winter is actually Dec. 21), the City of Oak Forest is reminding residents about the city's ordinance concerning street parking and snowfall.
Under the ordinance, vehicles are prohibited from parking on Oak Forest streets after two inches have fallen, the city said in an alert last week. The ordinance was created to make sure streets are clear for plowing crews to salt and remove the snow, the alert stated.
On its website, the city illustrates how it handles plowing snow and salting the 152-lane miles of streets and 93 cul-de-sacs during the winter. Plowing crews try to "maintain a clear, bare, driving track on either side of the center line on secondary streets within 12 hours of the end of a snowfall, and courts and cul-de-sacs within 18 hours of the end of a snowfall," the city states on its web page about Oak Forest snow plowing.

"Our goal is to make all streets, courts and cul-de-sacs safe and accessible for vehicles properly equipped for winter driving conditions during and after a storm," the city's website states.
Oak Forest's website also outlines how residents can avoid getting plowed in after a snowfall.
