Oak Forest Chef Sexually Abused Relative For 4 Years: Prosecutors

The 32-year-old man claims he only had sexual contact with the girl once after mistaking her for his wife, according to authorities.

An Oak Forest chef is accused of sexually abusing a relative for four years, despite the 32-year-old man's claims he had sexual contact with the girl only once and that it had been a case of mistaken identity, the Chicago Tribune reports. Jose Godinez was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault following his arrest Thursday, and he was denied bail Saturday. His next court date is scheduled for Monday.

According to police, Godinez is alleged to have sexually assaulted the young victim multiple times over a four-year period, the Tribune reports. Prosecutors claim the alleged abuse began while no other adults were around, the report added.

Godinez, however, told authorities that he only had sexual contact with the victim once, the report stated. According to prosecutors, he claimed that contact happened because he thought the girl was his wife, the report added.

Despite no previous arrest record, the judge in the case ordered Godinez held without bail because of the threat he still presented to the community, the report stated. He also is prohibited from having contact with the victim and her family, as well as any other minors, the report added.
