Oak Forest Community Pool Won't Open This Year

OAK FOREST, IL — The city-run Oak Forest Community Pool, which usually opens for the year in early June, won't open at all in 2020. Pool organizers announced on social media in recent days that the decision has been made to close for the entire summer season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The post cited the uncertainty as to when licenses will be issued and the social distancing requirements that would be in place even if they are.

"Due to the uncertainty as to when the State will issue permits, and if the social distancing restrictions would make it difficult to be able to open, the City has made the decision to close the pool."

The pool is expected to be open again come summer 2021.
