Oak Forest Community Tree Planting Set For Sept. 27, Volunteers Sought
Trees will be planted along Kilbourn Avenue in recognition of the City's renewal of its Tree City USA status.
OAK FOREST, IL — The City of Oak Forest is set to celebrate its renewed Tree City USA status, with a community tree planting.
A Tree City USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation recognizes a city for its commitment to plant, grow and maintain trees to benefit its community.
Set for Saturday, Sept. 27, the event will feature the planting of trees along Kilbourn Avenue, the City said. Volunteer spots remain for the planting, and registration is available online.

Participants will meet at South Suburban College, Oak Forest Center parking lot, located at 16333 South Kilbourn Ave.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. The Arbor Day Foundation is a global non-profit organization with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. More information about the program is available at arborday.org.
