OAK FOREST, IL — Bremen School District 228 will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Oak Forest High School's new field house August 12.

The new field house is part of the second phase of a seven-year, $74 million-project that included building new field houses at all four district schools: Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Bremen and Hillcrest high schools. The state-of-the-art facilities include amenities such as an indoor running track, basketball court, workout rooms, and space for health and driver’s education classes.

Guests will be able to tour Oak Forest's field house after the ceremony.

Construction began in 2017. About $45 million of the total cost of the projects came from the federal Qualified School Construction Bond program, which was part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The district was able to restructure its debt, and as a result, homeowners' tax bills dropped slightly.

The grand opening will be held Mon., Aug. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oak Forest High School, 15201 S. Central Ave., Oak Forest.
