Oak Forest July 4th Fireworks And Oak Fest Info: 2018 Guide

OAK FOREST, IL β Summer is already chugging along, and that means Fourth of July celebrations are getting ready to light up the sky with fireworks. Here's what Oak Forest has planned for Independence Day this year, including details about the 31st annual Oak Fest.
Oak Forest has built a tradition out of celebrating the Fourth of July over multiple days thanks to Oak Fest. This year, the event runs from July 3 to 8 at 159th Street and Central Avenue, its home for three decades.
Like past years, Oak Fest will feature live music, a car show, bean bag tournament and carnival rides. Although admission to the festival is free, a wristband is needed for the rides.

A MegaPass bracelet β which allows for unlimited rides for all six days β can be purchased before the event for $60 online. Wristbands also can be purchased at City Hall, 15440 S. Central Ave., during the following times (the price is still $60 but can only be paid with cash or check):

- noon to 5 p.m. June 27 to 29
- 9 a.m. to noon June 30
- noon to 5 p.m. July 2
Starting July 3, passes can be purchased at the festival for $75. Daily wristbands also will be available.

Of course, no Fourth of July celebration β even if it's a part of Oak Fest β is complete without a fireworks display. Oak Forest's pyrotechnics are set for around 9:30 p.m. July 4. A special VIP fireworks viewing area also will be available for $5 per person.
Oak Fest and Fourth of July Fireworks: The Basics
When: The event runs July 3 to 8. Festival hours are:
- 6 p.m. to midnight July 3
- 3 to 11 p.m. July 4
- 6 to 11 p.m. July 5
- 6 to midnight July 6
- 3 to midnight July 7
- 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 8
Fireworks will be when the sun sets at around 9:30 p.m. July 4.
Where: 159th Street and Central Avenue.
