Oak Forest Man, 21, Charged In Oak Forest Metra Graffiti Incident: PD

Police arrested the man Tuesday evening. He also faces drug charges, police said.

OAK FOREST, IL — A 21-year-old Oak Forest man faces drug and vandalism charges after an incident near the Oak Forest Metra station Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

On Tuesday, July 15 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Oak Forest police were called for a report of graffiti near the Metra train station at 159th Street and Cicero Avenue.

Later that evening, at approximately 6:30 p.m., police were called to the 5000 block of 159th Street for a second report regarding a man actively spray-painting the walls beneath the Metra viaduct.

Responding officers quickly located and detained the suspect, who police say was identified at the scene by the witness.

The man—identified as 21-year-old Joseph Rodriguez of Oak Forest—was taken into custody. A search of Rodriguez led to the recovery of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was transported to the Oak Forest Police Department for processing.

Rodriguez has been charged with felony delivery of cannabis over 30 grams, and criminal defacement of property.

Rodriguez was cited and released in accordance with the Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act. He was due to appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday.
