Oak Forest Man Shoots Stepfather To Death: Police
Police said Dennis A. Wasko Jr. and Melvin A. Sandahl had been arguing before Wasko shot his stepfather to death.

OAK FOREST, IL —An Oak Forest man who police said shot his stepfather to death Sunday night has been charged with first-degree murder.
Dennis A. Wasko Jr., 48, shot Melvin A. Sandahl, 76, early Sunday in Sandahl's home on the 15700 block of Heron Drive, Oak Forest police said.
Sandahl's wife called 911 shortly after 1:30 a.m. to report that her husband had been shot, the Chicago Tribune reported. He was shot in the head.

According to reports, she said that her son and husband had argued, and afterward, Wasko left the home. He then returned and shot Sandahl.
Sandahl was pronounced dead at South Suburban Hospital.
