Oak Forest Officials, Developer Break Ground On Senior Housing Complex
Carefree Village Housing is estimated to be complete within 18 months, officials said.

OAK FOREST, IL — Oak Forest officials joined with developers on Tuesday to break ground on a senior housing complex at the corner of 151st and Cicero Avenue.
Carefree Development and City officials dug shovels into the dirt at the northeast corner of 151st and Cicero Avenue, the symbolic start of work on Carefree Village Housing. The completed development will be a senior housing community to serve independent, moderate-income seniors at 4758 W. 151st Street. It will be a three-story, 55-unit senior independent living complex, featuring 41 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom units, the City said.

The development's residential common areas will include a spacious lobby, community area, warming kitchen, and dining room as well as a health center, lounge, and library. The proposed building will be designed to accommodate the physical needs of an active senior clientele with a concept plan that will bundle a variety of senior-oriented services to include 24-hour on-site management, no-cost continental breakfast, grocery delivery, pharmacy delivery, monthly newsletters, a wellness program, organized activities and an optional meal program.
