Oak Forest Police Department Hiring Lateral Officers

Hiring needs are immediate; applications are due soon.

OAK FOREST, IL — The Oak Forest Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of lateral officers, with immediate openings.

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the City of Oak Forest will accept applications through Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. There will not be a written exam as part of the application process.

Qualifications

  • You must be a U.S. citizen;
  • You must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application;
  • You must have proof of high school diploma, GED certificate or high school proficiency statement;
  • You must be a current full-time certified sworn law enforcement officer with a minimum of two (2) years with current department, in a municipality, county, university, or state law enforcement agency in the state of Illinois at time of appointment with Oak Forest; and
  • You must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

There is no residency requirement. You must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing which may include a polygraph and psychological examination. All individuals meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to continue with the application process.

Special Requirements

Applicants must attend the mandatory orientation and oral interview at Oak Forest City Hall at 15440 S. Central Avenue, Oak Forest on Saturday, Feb. 22. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. Orientation begins at 9 a.m. The oral interview will follow orientation.
