Oak Forest Restaurant Exchanges Hot Dogs For Cards To Wounded Officer
Nicky V's Beef and Dogs is giving a free hot dog to anyone who brings a get well card for the injured officer until the end of the weekend.
OAK FOREST, IL β Residents who make get well cards for a wounded Oak Forest officer can receive a free hot dog from Nicky V's Beef and Dogs, the restaurant announced Wednesday.
The Oak Forest restaurant is also collecting cash donations to support the officer, who was injured during a fatal shoot-out at Food 4 Less on April 3.
Nicky V's will be collecting cards at their 6200 West 159th Street location in exchange for one free hot dog beginning on Wednesday and running through Monday. All cards will be given to the Oak Forest Police Department on Monday in order to help raise the spirits of the wounded officer, a spokesperson for the restaurant told Patch.

As of Thursday, officials said the wounded officer remained in the hospital in "stable" condition. Spokespeople for the city would not go into further detail on his condition or identity but did say the officer is male.
