Oak Forest Veteran Gets A New Roof From National Program
A veteran from Oak Forest received a new roof for her home after being selected by Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.

OAK FOREST, IL — U.S. Navy veteran, Kristine Lyons, received a new roof on Friday, after being selected as the recipient of the Style Exteriors program, Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.
The new roof was constructed at the veterans Oak Forest home, beginning at 8 a.m. Friday. Lyons received new shingles and a more sturdy roof from the program. The project brought the community together to honor the veteran and gave back, according to Style Exterior.

This project was done in partnership with Purple Heart Homes. PHH is a 501(c)3 public charity that was founded in 2008,dedicated to providing housing solutions for service connected disabled and aging veterans, according to its website.

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served our country and the families who support them. Since 2016, more than 200 military members have received new roofs through the program, according to Style Exterior.

"We help out veterans all the time so when we were asked to do this, of course we said yes," Pat McGowan, General Manager Style Exteriors said. "Giving back is the biggest key and we appreciate the service of our veterans and how they give back to this country."

Style Exterior, 4905 W. 95th St. Oak Lawn, is a local contractor group specializing in roofing, siding, gutters, soffit and fascia. The contractors serve the Chicagoland area with locations in Oak Lawn, Plainfield and Wauconda, according to the contacting company.
