OAK FOREST, IL — An Oak Forest woman is selling her homemade masks in a driveway sale she is hosting at 14808 Mission Ave., Oak Forest, Sept. 4 from 2-6 p.m. and Sept. 5 from 9:30-12 p.m.

In a Facebook post, Terry Stachyra Barker shared her new sports, fall, Halloween masks that she has for sale, $5 each mask. Barker said she lost track of how many masks she has made.

"I make them out of house at my kitchen table, it usually takes about 20 minutes to cut, sew and string each mask," Barker said. "I can't put a number on it but it's been a lot [of masks]. Most of my customers keep coming back for more. I have everything from Cubs, Sox, Avengers, Nightmare Before Christmas and just starting on fall and Halloween."

Barker said the thought of making homemade masks came about when the COVID-19 pandemic started.

"I have a 6-year-old that was required to wear a mask, and nobody had kids masks," Barker said. "It dawned on me that I use to sew in high school... how hard could it be. I figured there must be other parents in the same boat, and that's how it started."
