OAK FOREST, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

She was the first person to talk to me on the first day of speech club

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Emma has a way of making everyone around her feel important. When any of her friends are going through a tough time, she will stand by them and be there for them. She is also a very dedicated student athlete. She's on the soccer team, in band, in speech, takes AP classes, regularly goes to the gym, gets stellar grades, and still finds time to be an amazing person. She is also absolutely hilarious! She loves to make people feel welcomed, and she also recommends me music whenever I need it (her music taste is superb). Overall she deserves to be recognized because she is an amazing person, athlete, student, and friend.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Besides the fact that she is an amazing person, she has an amazing music taste! She listens to a lot of metal music, which some say doesn't fit her personality. Personally, I think it's amazing that she is proud to show off the things she likes without judgement.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Emma 11th grade!
