Orland Park Man Charged In Oak Forest Domestic Shooting: PD

A 37-year-old Orland Park man faces one felony charge in the April 21 shooting. The investigation continues.

OAK FOREST, IL — An Orland Park man faces a gun charge and after a domestic shooting Sunday evening in Oak Forest, police said Wednesday.

An investigation has been ongoing after four people were shot in what police called a domestic incident in the 5500 block of Babette Court Sunday evening. One man—39-year-old Mohannad G. Othman, of Oak Forest—died after being shot multiple times in the head, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. Also shot were a 12-year-old girl, 19-year-old man, and 19-year-old woman, police said Monday. All were recovering from their injuries.

A suspect later identified as Omar Zegar, 37, of Orland Park, was taken into custody shortly after fleeing the scene Sunday evening.

On Tuesday, Oak Forest police charged Zegar with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of weapon-revoked FOID in connection with the shooting, police said Wednesday.

A detention hearing for Omar Zegar is scheduled for April 24, at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
