Major Appliances Stolen From Home

Police were called to a home in the 14300 block of S. Keeler Avenue, after a resident reported a residential burglary.

At the home, police spoke with the owner, who said they arrived at the home at 1:40 p.m. and found the lockbox to the front door missing. Inside the home, the victim said the refrigerator, washer, dryer, stove, central air conditioner compressor, an AC unit and copper piping were all missing from the home.

Police spoke with a neighbor, who said they noticed the AC unit missing the afternoon of Dec. 6.

Officers processed the scene, but were unable to find any relevant information.

Asleep at the Wheel, Drugs in Vehicle

Patricia L. Palmeri, 38, of the 4800 block of W. 154^th Street, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis and illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor, driver. Police arrested Palmeri after a report of a driver sleeping driver parking in the Walgreens, 4800 W. 148^th Street, was called in by a witness.

In the parking lot, officers found Palmeri asleep at the wheel of her van, with the vehicle in drive and her foot on the brake. Officers were able to wake Palmeri by pounding on the driver's side window of the vehicle.

While speaking with Palmeri officers detected a scent of burnt cannabis and asked Palmeri to step out of the vehicle. Palmeri assured officers there was nothing illegal in her car or on her person, although a search of her person resulted in the discovery of a clear, plastic baggie containing a green, leafy substance that was suspected cannabis.

While searching the vehicle, officers found an envelope in the center console, which contained 31 white pills, later identified as Alprazolam and 62 pills of Hydrocodone. Palmeri said the pills were her husband's. Police also found a metallic pipe with burnt cannabis residue on it behind the driver's side seat.

Officer took Palmeri into custody and transported her to the Midlothian Police Department, where she was processed before being taken to the Blue Island Police Department, to await transfer to the Markham Lockup for a bond hearing.

Speeding Stop Leads to Spotted Pot

Marchaun A. Johnson, 36, of the 590 block of Virginia Avenue, Lynwood, was charged with no valid driver's license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding of the statutory limit, as well as issued an ordinance violation for possession of cannabis. McKinney L. Chandler, 37, was issued a ordinance violation for for unlawful possession of cannabis, both men were in a car that was stopped by police in the 14700 block of S. Kedzie Avenue after officers clocked the car going 51 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

During the stop, officers spoke with Johnson, who was driving the car, and he told officers he did not have a valid license. While speaking with Johnson, officers noted Chandler was intoxicated and vomiting in the passenger's seat.

Johnson exited the vehicle and during a search of his person, officers found a clear plastic bag containing a small cigar with had a green, leafy substance in it, which Johnson admitted was cannabis.

Officers then had Chandler exit the car, when he did so officers saw a folded piece of paper on the seat, which also contained a green, leafy substance.

Both men were taken to the Midlothian Police Department, where they were processed and released on bond.

Both men are scheduled to appear in the Midlothian Council Chambers on Jan. 7, 2013 on the ordinance violations, while Johnson is scheduled to appear in Markham on Jan. 16 for the state charges.

Computer, Monitor Stolen from Home

Police responded to a call from a resident in the 3200 block of W. 147^th Place, who reported a residential burglary to their home.

At the residence, police spoke with the victim who told officers that some time between 10:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. an unknown suspect(s) broke into their home and removed a HP desktop computer, a 22-inch monitor, a power strip and a checkbook with the victim's checks in it.

Police could not find any evidence of value at the scene, and told the victim to notify police if any other items were found stolen and to notify the victim's bank about the stolen checks.
