Police Bust Drug Offender with Loaded Gun: Oak Forest Police Blotter

Jewelry Store Robbed

Police were called to Eddie's Jewelry, 5203 W. 159^th Street, after a report of a broken out window.

At the scene, officers found the front window of the business broken and two display cases were damaged with items missing.

Police called the owner, who told them he would need to do an inventory of the business to be sure what was missing. He also told officers there is video surveillance in the business and showed it to officers.

The tape showed two suspects throw a large rock through the window and then enter the store and remove the items before leaving less than two minutes later.

The owner told officers he would do an inventory and produce a copy of the tape to provide to police in the near future.

Jan. 7

Pushy Family Member Violates Protection Order

Saladin I. Saadah, 18, of the 5700 block of W. Independence Avenue, was charged with violating an order of protection and domestic battery, following an incident at his home.

At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who said Saadah was banging on the front door of the residence and when the victim opened the door, Saadah said, 'I'm here for some property.'

The victim told Saadah there was an order of protection against him and that he was not allowed in the home or to contact the victim, but Saadah pushed the victim and entered the home.

Police located the Saadah and took him into custody, at which time he was charged. He was released on bond with a court date of Jan. 8.

They Tried to Bust Down the Door

Police were called to an apartment in the 14700 block of Central Avenue, after a victim reported an attempted burglary.

At the apartment, police spoke with the victim before investigating the scene and finding the front door to the apartment warped and bent. Officers determined that blunt force, possibly a shoulder into the door, was used to damage the door in an attempt to gain entry to the apartment.

The door was damaged, but entry to the apartment was stopped.

Loaded Gun, Rolled Joints in Wendy's Parking Lot

Ashia K. Siwatu-Whittington, 37, of the 600 block of W. 44^th Avenue, Gary, Ind., was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis, following a police stop at Wendy's, 4170 W. 167^th Street.

While on patrol, police saw a single car in the Wendy's parking lot, with its dome light on and the two occupants' heads down. Police pulled up to investigate the scene and found Siwatu-Whittington and Derrell Dixon, 42, of the 600 block of W. 44^th Avenue, Gary, Ind.,sitting in the car.

Police found Dixon rolling a marijuana cigarette and had both suspects exit the vehicle.

While speaking with Siwatu-Whittington, she told officers there was a loaded gun in the backseat, that she kept with her for protection.

Both suspects were taken to the Oak Forest Police Department, where they were charged. Dixon cited for possession of cannabis and released on bond. Siwatu-Whittington was charged and placed into a holding cell to await transport to a bond hearing.
