Semi Driver Dies In Two-Car Crash On Tri-State Tollway: State Police

HAZEL CREST, IL — The driver of a semi truck died Friday morning after a two-car crash on the Tri-State Tollway.

The crash happened on I-294 northbound at 167th near Hazel Crest, Illinois State Police said. The semi truck first struck a car before then hitting the left concrete median, police said. The driver of the semi was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All northbound lanes were shut down until approximately 1:30 p.m. The left two northbound lanes remain shut down for the crash investigation. There is no additional information at this time.
