Shelter In Place Lifted At Oak Forest High School After Bomb Threat

Police say a call was made to Oak Forest Police claiming there to be a bomb at the school. Police were able to trace the call to juveniles.

OAK FOREST, IL — Oak Forest High School was temporarily put under a shelter in place order Tuesday morning after school officials said a bomb threat was called into the school, police said.

Oak Forest Police Chief Jason Reid said that was placed to the department's communications office saying that there was a bomb at the Oak Forest High School. School staff implemented their safety plans to ensure the safety of students and staff, Reid said.

While they were implementing their safety plan, police officials worked to identify the number that had called the threat in and located the juveniles responsible for this incident, Reid said.

Police found there to there to be no threat to the high school or to students and staff a district spokesperson told Patch. The shelter-in-place was lifted after 25 minutes after the threat was received shortly after 10:30 a.m.
