Shooting At Markham Bar Causes Mayor To Propose Curfew
Bar and nightclub owners have expressed concern over the liquor curfew, which was proposed after a shooting at Kick-Off's Bar & Grill.

MARKHAM, IL — A shooting outside of a Markham bar earlier this month has led to Mayor Roger Agpawa proposing a curfew on liquor sales for all bars and nightclubs within the city.
According to police records, the shooting occurred near Kick-Off's Bar and Grill Feb. 6 after police were called to the location to break up a fight. Agpawa said police regularly respond to fights, threats and weapons reports at the establishment.
At a Markham City Council meeting last week, Agpawa responded to other bar owners in the area who expressed concern at the midnight curfew.

"I don't just answer to the bars, and I don’t just answer to the fast food chains. I answer to the residents," Agpawa said at the meeting.
According to other business owners, the curfew would punish the community for the mistakes of one bar. The Markham City Council will vote on the curfew at their next meeting.
