Sketch Of Baby Girl Found In Markham Attic During Fire Released
The Cook Co. medical examiner's office wants help identifying "Baby Jane Doe," who was discovered in a vacant home last year.

MARKHAM, IL — The Cook County medical examiner's office is still asking the public for help identifying a baby girl who was found dead in the attic of a vacant home last summer in Markham. A sketch of "Baby Jane Doe" — who was discovered by firefighters battling a blaze in July at the abandoned residence in the 15400 block of Hamlin Avenue — was released by the agency Wednesday.
Baby Jane Doe was described as a black girl, between 9 months and 2 years old, with black hair and pierced ears, according to the medical examiner's office. She was wearing the following items of clothing:
- a white, Garanimals brand onesie with hot-pink flowers
- a dark blue onesie with polka dots and red-stitched trim
- black-and-white, leopard-print, fleece pants, with pink paws foot coverings and a cat face and ears on the seat.
Two blankets also were found with the girl. One was patterned in dark blue, white, red and light blue, with frayed edges and “Raggedy Ann”-looking doll embroidering. The other blanket was light pink fleece, with light blue, light pink and hot pink elephants.
