State Trooper Hit By Wrong-Way Driver Near Markham: State Police
The incident happened Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m., Illinois State Police said.
MARKHAM, IL — An Illinois State trooper was injured Thursday afternoon when their squad car was struck by a wrong-way driver on I-57, Illinois State Police said.
The crash happened near 159th Street eastbound to I-57 southbound, Illinois State Police said.
Scanner reports indicate the civilian driver had fled a traffic stop after a residential burglary in Country Club Hills. The driver was reportedly northbound in southbound lanes of I-57. Patch has reached out to Country Club Hills Police for additional information.

The trooper was taken to an area hospital with injuries.
State police said the investigation is active and no further information was available as of 4:15 p.m.
