'Superhero' Nurse Came Out Of Retirement: Oak Forest Patch Hero

OAK FOREST, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
My mom is a superhero. She was a retired Nurse manager after working at Stroger Hospital for over 30 years, before this pandemic started. She made a decision to come out of retirement temporarily because she felt that her skills as an ER/Trauma Nurse were needed. Now she is working at a local hospital until this pandemic is over.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
That she genuinely cares about all people.
