Taps Pub Hosts Fundraiser in Honor of Deceased Child, Cancer-Stricken Youth
Taps Pub owner Michelle Fugiel and Taps Pub will hold Ocktoberfest, Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 3 p.m. The event will be held in memory of Alyssa Marie Kent, Michelle's niece, with all money collected going to the Treasure Chest Foundation.

There's a party coming to Taps Pub, and it's going to be for a good cause, too. On Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 3 p.m. Taps will host Ocktoberfest, in memory of Alyssa Marie Kent. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Treasure Chest Foundation.
“The Treasure Chest Foundation goes around to children's hospitals and after treatment, like chemo or whatever they have to do, they get to go to the treasure chest,' said Taps Pub owner Michelle Fugiel. “They open it up and inside there's gift cards, or something like that, it gives them something to look forward to.”
The event is being held in memory of Alyssa Marie Kent, who passed away at the age of 17 after a battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

"This event isn't for Alyssa, but it is in her memory," said Fugiel. "I remember going to the hospital with her and seeing all the children going through treatment. I think they they deserve to smile and this foundation helps that."
The event will feature free food, $2 domestic bottles, $2 apple pie shots and $1 Jell-o shots, as well as live music from Droptop, raffles and prize baskets.

“There's tons of baskets, sports baskets, trips, dinners, it's really nice,” said Fugiel. “There's going to be a tent set up outside and then the live music, too.”
All of the money collected during the event will go directly to the Treasure Chest Foundation, Fugiel said.
“We're really doing this for the kids,” Fugiel said. “Just to help put a smile on their faces.”
