Trio Of Armed Teens Stole 2 Cars In Midlothian, Tried In Alsip: Police

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Three teenagers carjacked a vehicle in Midlothian early Monday morning, police said.

According to officers, a man was parked in the parking lot of Walgreen's at 4800 West 148th Street at around 2:10 a.m. Monday when three teenagers approached his car. Police said the teens were each armed with a handgun. The trio demanded the man's car and "threatened to shoot him if he did not comply," a spokesperson wrote in a press release.

The man got out of his white Toyota Camry and the group drove away.

Midlothian police said they later learned a group of teenagers driving the same Chevy Trax that was originally taken to the Walgreen's were responsible for an attempted carjacking in Alsip less than an hour before. In that incident, the group fired shots at the driver, police said.

Immediately following the Walgreen's carjacking, police said the group took another vehicle at 111th Street and Cicero Avenue. Police were able to trace the group's car using security camera footage but no one was in custody as of Monday afternoon.
