Worker Rescued From Overturned Excavator At Oak Forest Hospital Site: Oak Forest Fire

OAK FOREST, IL — A worker was rescued from an overturned excavator Friday morning at the site of the former Oak Forest Hospital, Oak Forest Fire officials have confirmed.

The Oak Forest Fire Department was called for an overturned crane with somebody trapped inside at the Oak Forest Hospital grounds at approximately 8:36 a.m., fire officials said. Fire personnel assisted by other agencies were able to extricate and transport the patient to a local hospital.

Footage from ABC-7 Chicago news choppers showed the massive piece of equipment overturned in a hole on the property at 159th and Cicero Avenue Friday morning.

The person's condition was not immediately known. Scanner reports indicate their leg might have been trapped in the machine.
