Annual Evening Reception Raises Over $100,000 for Special Children's Charities
More than 300 tickets purchased for the annual Evening Reception at Allium at Blue Plate Catering, which benefitted SCC.
More than 300 tickets were purchased for Special Children’s Charities (SCC) recent Evening Reception which took place in mid-September, raising nearly $125,000 for the organization. Now in its fourth annual year, the Evening Reception is one of the most important fundraisers of the year for SCC, as it helps to fund the programs and services the organization provides year-round for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Located at Allium at Blue Plate Catering, the evening included cocktails, heavy appetizers, a brief program, emceed by Bob Lanigan of One for the Kids, as well as the opportunity to bid on live auction items, which included luxury vacations to Tulum, Mexico, and Cotswolds, England.
Special Children's Charities develops and funds a wide range of recreational, educational and social activities that encourage physical and mental health for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring that all individuals have access to high-quality programming. Many start their journey through the Chicago Park District or Chicago Public Schools' special recreation and education programs. Along with sports and enrichment programming, SCC also funds an adventure club, a participant-produced cable access TV show, virtual cooking classes, families' activities such as miniature golf, indoor rowing, and much more.
