Firefighters Respond to Reported Bridgeview Explosion

Residential evacuations were under way in Bridgeview shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday as emergency personnel mitigated a suspected explosion.

Bridgeview and Hometown firefighters responded to the scene in the 8400 block of South 77th Avenue at 7:06 p.m. after receiving a call about a propane tank igniting.

Fire and Hazmat units remained on scene around 7:35 p.m., when the street was cordoned off for several blocks.

Around 9:30 p.m., Northern Illinois Fireground provided an update saying, "the fire box had been struck out by incident command."

No injuries were reported.
