Chicago Ridge Mall Hosts Ultimate Dia de los Muertos Party Saturday

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — Celebrate Day of the Dead and help out a local food pantry at the same time Saturday, Oct. 25, for “Dia de los Muertos,” at Chicago Ridge Mall, 95th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.

The celebration runs from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is a non-perishable food item, to be donated to Pilgrim Faith Food Pantry in Oak Lawn.

Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) is a two-day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations.
