The mall was closed early. Police received a call of shots fired but police say no gunfire took place. A video was posted to YouTube.

The Chicago Ridge Mall was closed Saturday following a fight involving dozens of teen-agers in the food court after 6 p.m. Saturday. Police responded in force.
The Chicago Ridge Police issued a statement late Saturday:
“At approximately 6 p.m. this evening the Chicago Ridge Police Department responded to a fight in progress at Chicago Ridge Mall in the food court area. While en route, there was a report of shots fired, and a multi-jurisdictional response was called. Upon arrival several groups previously within the food court area had begun to go into the mall area. Numerous stores closed their gates, and in joint cooperation, Chicago Ridge Police and Chicago Ridge mall security determined that the mall should close to prevent any further entry into the mall by individuals in the original incident. With the cooperation of numerous surrounding communities, the mall was evacuated and remained closed until its regularly scheduled closing time.”

“It’s kind of scary that last night there was a fight at Navy Pier and here at a big mall in the south suburbs,’’ Mayor Chuck Tokar told the Chicago Tribune. “I certainly thank God that it didn’t happen when the mall was at its peak leading up to Christmas.’’
