OAK LAWN, IL — Think of freshman girls cross country runner Gianna Mollo as a block of clay willing to be molded and shaped into a fierce competitor on the course. The athletic artwork is quickly taking form as she earned a Top-20 finish and a medal in Oak Lawn Community High School’s first junior varsity meet of the season against 14 other teams.

“Gianna Mollo is a freshman who has been eager to learn, take feedback, and works hard to improve each practice,” OLCHS head coach Sue Szala said. “Her effort paid off in the first race of the season. We can’t wait to see where the season takes her. This is only the beginning.”
