Harlem Avenue Street Improvements Start Monday In Bridgeview

ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps, intersection widening and modernizing traffic signals starts March 24 on Harlem between 76th and 90th Streets.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL – A street improvement project on Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) between 76th and 90th streets in Bridgeview will begin, weather permitting, Monday, March 24. The work will require daytime intermittent closures for the duration of the project, IDOT officials said.

The $7 million project calls for intersection widening, modernizing traffic signals and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps along Harlem Avenue at 78th, 79th, 83rd, 84th, 87th, 88th/Southfield Shopping Center Drive and 90th/Cambridge streets. The project is anticipated to be completed in late October.

Throughout construction, at least one lane in both directions will remain open. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternative routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
